What's the Best Digital Camera?
Reviewing the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-R1
If you want the very best camera on the market, but you don't have a million dollars to spend, your best bet is the Canon Rebel XS. On the other hand, if you're a professional, if you need to make an investment with your camera, or if money is simply no object, then allow us to present to you the hottest new thing in non-DSLR digital cameras, the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-R1 Digital Camera.

Magic in Your Hands?
We'll get into the stats in a minute, but first, let's review how it actually handles, because as you know, the finest camera in the world isn't worth a penny if you can't even use it comfortably. First of all, it's not a small camera at all. It weighs a hefty 2.2 pounds, which is a nice little way for Sony to tell the user "This is a serious piece of equipment!" The camera is very well balanced, and rests very comfortably between your hands.
The camera is something of a hybrid between the so called compact digital cameras, and the more professional DSLR. In competent hands, it can get top class, professional looking results, but it also works fine as a point-and-shoot camera that just about anybody can pick up and take a few gorgeous shots with. The LCD screen is moveable, so you can twist the camera around however you like and get some interesting shots. The DSC-R1 is considered to be one of the best cameras around in terms of responsiveness and reaction speed. See below for detailed digital camera reviews.

The camera features auto and manual focus and exposure, three types of auto-focus, and with interchangeable lenses, you can get just about any zoom range you like.
What it all comes down to, though, is, of course, the image quality. It's fun to play around with a camera and ogle the nifty features, but remember, you're here to take pictures, and the quality of those pictures is all that matters in the end.
The DSC-R1, after having been tested in any number of environments where lesser cameras would have keeled over and given up, is without peer. If you just point and click, you will get good pictures. If you know what you're doing, you will get images so good, you would expect to have paid three times the nine hundred dollar asking price for a camera so excellent. 10.3 megapixels, a 5x optical zoom, and an adjustable 2 inch LCD screen, it all adds up to beautiful image quality, with the adjustable screen allowing you to get pretty imaginative with your compositions.
Scouring the user reviews, we're having a hard time finding a single real complaint about the camera. Even the best cameras usually produce at least one disappointed customer, but we're having trouble finding him this time.
One note, though, it's not really a carry-around camera. If you just want something you can throw in your pocket, you'll want a compact camera, as the DSC-R1 serves as a bridge between compacts and DSLR cameras (while surpassing many popular DSLR cameras), so it's significantly bigger than any point-and-click you could just tuck in your jeans. There are many other sites on the web to look for digital camera reviews.
